Any clues regarding its orientation?
In setting up my telescope mount, I have to accurately determine true North and South. First step is to find out when true noon occurs at your longitude then seeing where the shadow of a vertical line falls on the ground at that exact time.
I have this line scribed on my concrete driveway so I can align my telescope up exactly the same way each time.
Maybe for some other equipment or surveying device?

Just had another thought. Maybe you have discovered the true North Pole.

Maybe an indicator for points settings ? The two arrows denote travel straight thru whilst left and right denotes turn direction. PS may stand for points setting ??? But feel it does denote movement in all directions and double arrow head one being the primary direction

Where would a compass needle point if you were standing on the true North Pole?
If you were standing on the geographic north pole holding your compass, it would point towards northern Canada at Ellesmere Island. This is a difference of about 500 kilometers between the Geographic North and Magnetic

Looks like it could be a Permanent Survey Marker, generally indicates property boundaries and should not be removed.
Id say Survey marker as well... The arrows appear to be in perfect right angles to each other......

Yep that makes good sense and the not being able to be removed explains having to be set back in place when path was concreted.

I'll go back with a compass and GPS to see of something shows up.
This is at the same location. We're hoping to get it for the Cue Heritage Centre. The only identification I can see on it is the cast logo on the left.

Looks like a Lister clone of some description ?
Put an upright in the middle and see if it's a sun dial.

Having had a collection of 44 old stationary engines (All gone now) it is not an "Old" engine as the early ones up to around the 1930"s had spoked wheels, unless the wheels have been changed over time, it also appears to have a ring gear fitted, so possibly it had an electric starter motor fitted. Unable to work out what letters are in the logo.
My father was employed by Moffat Virtue back in the 1950's and he fitted 32 volt lighting and Shearing plants on the Southern Tablelands NSW for some years. I know that they had electric start on the 32v lighting plants, my Grandparents had one fitted, it had a bank of batteries in glass cells and the motor would start when a load was placed on the batteries, it was started by the generator. I was playing in the lighting shed, I was about 10 years old, rotating the flywheels and playing with the V belt that went from the motor to the generator when it suddenly started, it did achieve one thing, I never went near it again.
These are all that is left of the collection.
Enamel signs, had to talk hard to get them 35 years ago.

I think it is a Ronaldson Tippet, this one has the same logo and is at the Power House Museum, year of make unknown. Could be a 6.5HP

Found this on the web. These are concrete cable markers. 20Kg refers to the weight of the concrete slab.
Whats the name of the station ? Is its initial P..... station ?

Ronaldson Tippet were important manufacturers in Ballarat back when heavy machinery was made there, Bendigo and Castlemaine (starting in goldrush days). This was the family of Michael Ronaldson, the Liberal member for Ballarat over many years (retiring in 2016). He was Minister for Veterans Affairs and co-chaired the Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial project in Ballarat
The reason I know is because I explored on the Ballarat North goldfield. I found from old records that in the 1940s a syndicate got together and hired a diviner, and sank a shaft on the location he indicated (quite inappropriate and useless). From what I could determine, the only likely shaft was one in the Ronaldson-Tippet works that they used to test winches that they manufactured. So it at least served some purpose....

Thank you 2lateagain. That’s clearly the same cast logo as the Rolandson Tippet with the plate painted over or missing.
You can see the big electric starter motor in the bottom of the picture.
This is the generator plate.
