2.25ct Harts Range zircon, this came out of a very fractured piece of crystalline rough..I almost gave up on it..walked away and regrouped on three separate occasions. Stone presents to the eye without the dark patches, so a nice light peachy pink.

After 100 photos I did give up trying to capture its true beauty. :awful:

Its been a while since I posted anything Ive done so I thought Id share this little challenge that came my way recently.
This is part of a piece of seam black opal from which I ended up cutting six stones but this one was by far the trickiest. Two colour bars, one cut. Get it right and Ive got two stones. Get it wrong and I get potentially nothing.

The cut was a success, producing a higher quality black opal and a nice crystal drop to finish off.

Hahaha. :) Youre all on the money. The black opal was valued very nicely and of all the stones Ive cut, this one slice is pretty much the only time Ive really questioned myself and whether I could pull it off. Luckily the owner of the stone told me to go for it after I sought his opinion so were both happy with the outcome.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. :rainbow:

Hello everyone, haven't been on the forum in over a year.
Have a claim on the gemfields as of last year, have had great success mining. thought I'd post photos of some of the stones I've found, gotten cut, and some put in jewellery.

Will get photos together and post some of awesome rough sapphires and zircons I have found.

Hey WalnLiz, thanks! I didn't know you were still active on this forum. I enjoy your videos and were the reason I got into fossicking in the first place and built your highbanker design.

Went away for several years Hugh for personal reasons but am glad to be back again. Liz is still crazy into the gemstone hunting and loves turning them into wire wraps, especially pendants. Good luck with your mining up there and hope those beautiful sapphires keep showing up in your wash. Stay safe if you are underground mate.

Hello everyone.

Here's an update on more stones I'm currently getting cut.

Have a whole second batch of sapphires and zircons with the cutter currently being cut. Here are some photos he sent as an update/progress of some of mine stones he is cutting and some hes putting in rings, all found myself on my claim in Rubyvale
