Location
West of the Yarra, East of SA,
Been using Australian Geology/Trilobite Solutions in researching/navigating myself around the Victorian goldfields, a great little app that show shallow workings, old mine sites (with details where known), prospecting/mining lease sites etc. The shallow workings are the red areas, Mines/leases etc have been turned off but appear for the complete area.

One odd thing I've noticed is that an area south of Moliagul to just north of Maryborough (roughly circled in black), as well as the Inglewood area (not shown here) for some reason do NOT show any shallow workings. For some reason there is also a red rectangle around an area just north of the Moliagul area (roughly marked in yellow).

Do any Victorian users have the same issue/problem or is it restricted to me ???

Have tried to contact them but without a response to date.

Cheers T.

They do exist there of course, although a bit sparse because of all the granite (that lacks gold).

Yep, I know that and have other resources (maps/GeoVic etc) that give that information BUT was specifically wondering what's wrong (??) with the Trilobite Solutions App ..... it shows all other areas with no problem

Howdy!

I initially subscribed to Trilobite Solutions for a trip to Tibooburra.
I sought the functionality of off-line and on-line location tracking features plus used the NSW geologic content downloads et al, which I found were terrific functions and features.

Then I subscribed to the WA data for a 7 month tour May to November 2021.
The total Trilobite West Australia Geologic content and downloads were a terrific resource also. Very impressed for WA's content.

Now I am using the Vic content which is quite lacking I think.
One simple geology, one detailed geology, no detailed topographic resources has me using other external sources for geology etc as the Vic Trilobite just doesn't have the sophistication.

Still like the standard features of the app for location, safety and recording locations, notations and finds etc but the geologic content for Vic is poor by comparison to what it should be - could be.

Good luck,
Wilko.

Hi Termite. My Victorian Trilobite Map is clear, no homework as seen on yours. T.

Hi Teemore, apologies for not checking before posting last post.
You are using a different 1:1 million Vic mineral fields layer, not what Teemore was asking about. Next to useless in terms of detail in my opinion.

Getting nowhere with David Collins (app developer) ..... he just keeps saying "use Vic Shallow Leads" ..... my version doesn't show it as "shallow leads" but "Shallow Workings".

Can any Vic users check to see if their version shows shallow workings in the area from which they seem to be missing from my version. Mine shows shallow workings jus disappear outside the rectangle (who knows what it's for??). Anyone have shallow workings in the Dunolly/Waanyarra or Inglewood areas

Or, does your version show "Shallow Leads" or "shallow workings" ....

Frustrating the crap out of me (I know I can use other info, just prefer Trilobite).D135C9A0-AC12-4A2B-8620-FBA444006F64_1_201_a.jpeg

I don't know the software but I suspect the rectangles are something like 1:50,000 map sheet boundaries, and for some reason shallow lead data on those map sheet areas are not being called into your overall image - or have been left off the software database,

Do you have something called "Leads and workings detail"? Here are the 50K map sheet boundaries with leads superimposed.

Here it is with 1:25,000 map sheets also superimposed. Looks to me that you are missing things like the Inglewood, Laanecoorie, Goldsborough, Bealiba etc sheets data.

That's all very interesting and relevant in the overall scheme but my query was specifically related to "Aust. Geology/Trilobite" software. Thanks.

Issue resolved (sort of), there is both a Vic Shallow Workings AND Vic Shallow Leads layer in the a App when 1 is active the other doesn't show so for the area by selecting VIC Shallow Leads yes the Dunolly etc areas show up but the others aren't visible, go to Shallow Workings and Dunolly etc go walkabout but everything else is displayed.

Thanks for all feedback.

What I have been posting is the same database that the Trilobite software uses (but no doubt their file names are different, as is its operation). I was involved in preparing some things for this database years ago for the Vic govt.

I cannot see shallow leads in my app. This is what I see.🤔🤔

Yep Solid Luck couldn't find it either to start with but after some fiddling in different areas I DID finally find them ..... just have to remember who I got there (and will need to switch between leads/workings depending on area). I'll post it when I find it again.
