i have been prospecting for 16 years now i would love to take it to the next level, and get my own small scale mine going so i guess my question is, is there anyone out there who is thinking the same.

there's a heap of work to be done cos when you have it all up and running the mining inspector still has to say the ok ore not

plus crushing/processing/carting costs as well as tnt when you start to really mine it generator as well lights lifting gear props and the list go's on and on

I've been looking into it, and I think I found the perfect 1. It's in far north qld, 20ha on a river and has an estimated 0.2 grams of gold to every cubic meter (worst case) which equal to about 1million dollars in gold.

I've checked out small wash plants we can tow and I think we could go through about 2-3 tone of dirt a day with it (1.5 oz a day) 2 men at about 10hrs work a day.

Don't have much capital at the moment but I think $200,000 investment for a million dollar return over 2 years is not bad, just got to find the right investor.

I could sell my small business to get the ball rolling.

Where are you from simon? :D

For Victoria, dont be scared off by the red tape, yes its thick and long, and sometimes seems endless but in reality if your onto something worth mining, its worth doing.
There are some people who specialise in setting up your work plan from WO to GO, including your licensing and permits.
A friend of mine has not long had his passed and approved and is currently small scale underground, good on him, wont be long before his reaping the rewards, and as to the doubters, Blah Blah Blah Blaaaaah, you know who you are, so sucking eggs it is for YOU

There is a group of us up here in fnq (cairns)
Im sure we could go check it out for you before you spend the $$$
Just a thought :D

That would be great it's about 240km nnw of cairns.

Defently need sum sampling done befor the investment.

Don't know much about that reagion, have you guys had much in the pans around cairns? (Inland)

Not a lot around cairns
All fine gold but it is there, just need to work for it
Heading up towards the palmer next month
Between us we have detectors, highbankers
And can organize a dry blower
So we should be able to cover all bases
You can shoot through a pm if your keen for us to check it out
I will organize our monthly meet there if you want

That you all for your responses'. I should start of by saying I live in NSW, I guess a lot of people would say its the worst place to start a up a small scale mine.
I would love to start something up in WA, VIC or QLD but at the moment thats not going to happen.
I understand all about the mining inspector and I no its going to be a lot of work but Is there anyone in NSW who has worked out these thing but is needing a investor/partner.

http://www.goldminesales.com.au/ There are a few on here mate couple in N.S.W last i checked.
Could be a way to start, depends on how dedicated you are, are you planning on working the lease, or are you more interested in administrative role, what are your planned returns as an investor, who can i get to work it for me/with me, do you have any expierence, do you know someone that dose, and the BIG ONE can you TRUST THEM.
Just a few questions to keep in mind mate ;)

I don't have a photo but the last big gold rush in Victoria was at the Posedin Lead, just near Laanecoorie Vic. All now on private land. I spotted a set-up the other day on a lead across from Posedin. (It's on the Laanecoorie -Newbridge Rd if anyone is out that way)

Mid-size-trommel, conveyor belt, excavator and other assorted pieces of gear. I think the 'mining' around our area seems to be small scale like this, send it through a crusher and wash plant and take it from there. It appears to be digging straight down onto the old lead and creating an open-cut, extract the gold, refill and revegitate. Another popular way is to simply doze through the old leads and detect/speck behind the dozer scrapes. These all seem to be on private land.

The mighty dream of owning your own gold mine, big cigars n flash cars, sitting back listening to that fantastic sound of rock n dirt clacking along the edge of steel, crushers smashing away in the background, the sound of paydirt when the words "firing complete" are spoken, and the heat and smell from the gold room upon pouring the first ingot........................aaaaaaaaaaaah..............what dreams are made of. :)

DWT - some dream!! In the past I have walked many a mile detecting after the dozer has been through - break even was a GOOD result but always dreaming! Best result was looking and thinking "Where the hell did that golden B&H smoke packet come from?" Bingo - nice piece and then the diesel bill arrived. argggggggggg.

proving ground is the hardest part of any planned/unplanned operation, most of my time is spent searching not for the single piece or two, but from where they were born.
the dream is the thing that keeps you going after hours of digging with nothing but black sands or a pocket full of lead shot, rainy days are research days, sunny days are search days and so on, if you want something you have to be hungry for it, live it, breathe it, every spot that turns out as a dud is just one place less to look.
i mostly work private property, i offer a 50% deal with the owner, steep some say but 50% of bugger all is bugger all if they dont let you in for a dig.
Have been involved in a lease once before with a couple of guys one being the property owner, pouring money into hire diggers and supplying my own recovery gear, whilst i was away on roster they were busy running my trommels and sluices, Burnt big time, removed my gear and bailed, made it out with some coin after cleaning out the machines and realising they had no idea how to clean moss or fine gold traps
makes me wonder how much they did score.............................but the dream is still alive, and well. :D
love to catch up for a beer one day loamer and listen to your expierences, one can never stop learning 8) :D

Dwt you said it perfectly it's all about the dream. Me I don't care about the flash car or the cigars. I just wanna dig to try get rid of this fever I got.

XIV, I'll talk to the owner and see if I can get you onto the claim to do sum testing and of cause you can keep what's in the pan.

And simon you should look at just buying a little bit of land on a river around the ophir, Oberon reagion and work it and scale up. Cheap lots going for under 30k.
