I bought an Equinox 800 detector and would like to learn more about places I could go to try my hand at finding things. I am looking for tips, tricks and advice from more experienced people. I am really new to this hobby and have only been out a few times. I have found bottle tops, aluminum ring pulls, nails, bits of lead and the occasional coin (nothing old) I would like to try looking for gold, although I realise I only have an entry level detector. I would really appreciate any advice on places to go hunting for treasure. Thanks Iain

Find old places with open dirt.

For older coins try river banks, old jetties, old towns on rivers, closed schools, disused ovals and under really old big trees.

For spendable coins try busy beaches and picnic areas.

I looked everywhere, pretty much the only thing I don't do is dig mowed grass parks, sports ovals etc.

Thanks Hilux, I appreciate your advice!
